How to get to Riomaggiore
On the highway A15 Parma-La Spezia take the exit La Spezia. From La Spezia exit follow the signs to La Spezia, Cinque Terre, Riomaggiore, Portovenere (attention: do not take the road to Lerici). Cross the city along the harbour, take the road on the left direction Portovenere, Riomaggiore.
After about 5 Km, at a junction with a traffic light, follow the signs only to Riomaggiore. After a tunnel the road becomes very panoramic. This road continues to all other towns of Cinque Terre, but at the first junction you have to drive down towards Riomaggiore.
The public parking is not for free and during the high season it might be difficult finding a spot. Nearby the junction to La Spezia and Manarola, at about 2 Km from the town there are few free lots on the road. From here you can take the green bus of the park connecting with the town.
This is the easiest and fastest way to travel through the villages. There is at least one train going in both directions every hour.
The Cinque Terre Express train goes back and forth between La Spezia and Levanto, every 30 minutes. A single one-stop ticket costs 4 EUR. If you are planning to take the train several times a day, it’s better to purchase the Cinque Terre Train Card.
In summer there are daily connections by ferry from La Spezia, Lerici, and Porto Venere. Monterosso, Vernazza, Manarola and Riomaggiore are also connected by inner navigation lines.
